Despite a UN halt on preparations for operations against FDLR in conjunction with FARDC, the latter opts to tackle the rebel on their own. A possibility of Rwandan assistance may arise in the subsequent weeks, but as long as two generals suspected of human rights abuses are commanding the FARDC force, the FIB will not come to the fore. It is possible that a negotiated settlement between both parties emerges, leading to a joint FIB/FARDC force, but thus far nothing has appeared. FARDC intends to target FDLR in Pinga, Kanyabayonga, Ishasha, Kiwanja et Kazahoro.
